Daniel Out of Jail and in Church

We are so thankful the Lord has brought this young man out of the darkness of sin and out of the jail this afternoon. He was able to come straight to church from the jail and had something to eat after and is here with us now. Lord willing tomorrow Marco will take him to get a job working construction with one of the men in the church.

He said he was so happy to be out, that he was so glad but he felt a little nervous coming into church but felt afterwards that everyone was very friendly and loving. That was a blessing.

Aparently when he was due to come out, he let all the guys in the jail choose something of his to keep and he just came with an empty looking backpack.

Please pray he will be faithful to the Lord and walk in His ways. His mother and 3 little sisters live in Chiapas. He has one older sister here who went to visit him pretty regularly in jail.

Miguel's family in Becal

Miguel's mother and sisters live in Becal where the new church is going up. This is his mother and one of his younger sisters. They are so gentle, and seem so contented. I liked their little christmas tree decoration on the left! :)

They had (lots of) family visiting from another town and invited us in for a taco. It is humbling to see how welcoming and hospitable these folks are with so little.

Please pray that through Brother Jose Luis who is scheduled to come to this town in February, that the Word of God would run and be glorified. We know that the Word of God is not bound and it is life!

Angel and Miguel

A few months back Angel was saved and we posted it on the blog, but didn't have a picture of him. Here he is in red with Miguel who just started training with Marco in October. This is from the day we went to Chemax for the play.

It is amazing to see the young people growing in the Lord and the teen group growing in numbers and in love for one another.

Angel finished Junior High School and has been out for some time working, but wants to go back. He works at the airport kitchen preparing snacks for the flights and often brings a big box of surplus yogurts, peanuts or flight crackers to share with the teens on Saturday nights.

His mother and 2 sisters and their husbands came to the play when we had it at our church in Cancun and heard the gospel. They have not come back, but it was a good testimony. Please pray for them to be saved.

Neighbors in Becal

This is the first time I had seen this little shop near where the building is going up in Becal. There is a "cave" on this propertly and they made some cement stairs down into it and are weaving there. These are the sorts of things they make. Weaving in the cave keeps the fibers from breaking as they work. It was actually pretty cool in the cave too, considering it was pretty small. With the weaver, Marco and me and the fibers down there, we didn't have much extra space for anyone else!

When you come to visit, you will see for yourself!

Progress on the Church Building in Becal, Campeche

Praise the Lord for his provision and mercy. The building is going up and getting closer to being finished. This is how it looks as of December 31, 2006.

The glass for the windows is ready but not in yet. The auditorium is the main area on the first floor, what you see to the right and center.

Off to the left is the bathroom and the children's classroom and the stairs that go up to the home area. In the last picture you can see the doors to the bathroom, upstairs and kids room better.

Lord willing, Brother Jose Luis and his family will be leaving Feb 5 to start a ministry there. Last night when the church in Cancun was meeting, Jose Luis shared that he would be going out with the Lord and 4 other christians to start the church but Marco had come to Cancun with only the Lord.

It is amazing what the Lord can do.

Martha, Jose Luis' wife has been a blessing to us in her thankfulness and willingness to help in whatever needs to be done. Se is very a careful seamstress and a neat housekeeper. She has mentioned many times how thankful she is to have a "roof" here in Cancun. Where they live now is not so nice and not even theirs. But she is thankful for it and takes good care of it.
